Terms of service

1. What the service does

intertitle reads a subtitle file you upload, finds the pauses in the dialogue, and inserts short notes written by an AI language model: scene previews, vocabulary, idioms, cultural notes, optional translations. The result is a new subtitle file for your own use.

Notes are generated automatically and can be wrong, incomplete or oddly phrased. They are a learning aid, not a translation service.

2. Your file

You may only upload files you have the right to use for this purpose. You keep all rights to your file; we claim none. We do not store, share, list or make searchable any uploaded file; see the privacy policy for retention.

Files that are not subtitle files, or that are built to disrupt the service, are refused.

3. Accounts and fair use

An account is tied to an e-mail address. Free accounts have a monthly allowance of episodes; Pro accounts have a larger one. Allowances are per person, not for resale or automated bulk use. We may limit, pause or close accounts that abuse the service, and we may pause the whole service when our own costs demand it.

4. Payments

Paid plans are sold through Paddle, our merchant of record, which handles payment, invoices and VAT. Subscriptions renew until cancelled; cancel any time and keep Pro until the end of the paid period. Packs of episodes do not expire. If the service does not work for you, write within 14 days of a purchase and we refund it.

5. Liability

The service is provided as is. We do our best to keep it running and correct, but we do not guarantee availability, accuracy of the notes, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

6. Changes and law

We may change these terms; the current version is always on this page, and material changes are announced on the site. Swiss law applies; the courts at the operator's seat are competent, without prejudice to mandatory consumer rights in your country.
